🧩 What Is a Favicon?

A favicon is the small icon that appears in browser tabs, bookmarks, and mobile search results. It helps reinforce your brand visually across all browsing contexts.

💡 Recommended size: 32x32px, saved as a .png with a transparent background.

How to Add or Update Your Favicon

Step 1: Open Theme Settings

  1. In the Shopify Theme Editor, click the ⚙️ Theme settings icon in the left sidebar

  2. Scroll down and open the SEO Settings panel

Step 2: Upload Your Favicon

  • Click Select under the Favicon Image field

  • Upload a square image (preferably 32x32 pixels)

  • Choose from your existing files or upload a new one

The image will automatically be scaled and applied across all browser tabs.

Add an Apple Touch Icon (Optional)

This icon appears when a user saves your site to their iOS home screen.

  • Upload a 120x120px image under Apple touch icon image

  • This image should match your branding and have good contrast

Enable Rich Snippets (Optional)

These toggles help boost your visibility in search engines:

  • Enable Product Rich Snippets: Includes structured data for price, availability, and reviews

  • Enable Article Rich Snippets: Useful if your site includes blog content

⚠️ These features assist search engines but do not guarantee rich results. Actual display is determined by Google.

✅ You’re Done!

Once saved, your favicon will appear in:

  • Browser tabs

  • Bookmarks

  • Mobile device previews

  • Google search results (if eligible)

Make sure to clear your browser cache if you don’t see the changes right away.
